The House Theatre of Chicago turns 17

Please join us Sunday, May 20th as we celebrate the 17th birthday of The House! We will kick off our 18th year of “amazing feats of storytelling” with live music from company member Matthew Muñiz (Hatfield & McCoy) and cabaret magic from company member Dennis Watkins (Death & Harry Houdini). A silent auction, delicious treats, and cash bar round out this great afternoon at the theatre. Come celebrate with us!

MAGIC BY DENNIS WATKINS

 Dennis Watkins, star of  The Magic Parlour  and  Death and Harry Houdini.

Dennis Watkins, star of The Magic Parlour and Death and Harry Houdini.

To date, Dennis has worked for The House as an actor, designer, writer and/or director on several shows, including Death and Harry Houdini (for which he received a Joseph Jefferson Award in 2012), The Magnificents, The Great and Terrible Wizard of Oz, Hatfield & McCoy and The Sparrow.  Dennis is the sole performer of The House's The Magic Parlour running every Friday night at the Palmer House Hilton.  He has worked as a consultant and magic designer for The Court, Steppenwolf, Uma Productions, Roadworks, Vittum and Next. Today, Dennis works as a magician and mentalist for corporate events, performing arts centers, conventions and colleges from coast to coast.  You can find out more about his work as a magician at www.denniswatkins.net.

The man behind the music of The Nutcracker and Hatfield & McCoy.

Matthew Muñiz is a musician, composer, songwriter, pianist and sound designer. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago, Matthew dedicates himself to creating beautiful music and helping students create their own. His music has appeared in short films, plays, and one full-length zombie flick. As a company member at The House, he regularly music directs and performs in their annual production of The Nutcracker. Other Music Directing credits at The House include Hatfield & McCoy, United Flight 232, and The Great and Terrible Wizard of Oz.
